Video Design for Performance

Der Ring des Nibelungen

Video design and animation for the Opera on the cycle of four epic music dramas composed by Richard Wagner
For the duration of the opera – around 15 hours – I created content for video projections illuminating the walls on the stage. Most content changed over time, sometimes slow and other times fast. Together with the lighting design, the video projections created much of the visual atmosphere related to the progression of the epic drama.

Rendered animation used for the video projections
I created the visual content for three video projectors in HD resolution using Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Cinema4D. The rendered results were fed into a Hippotizer media server.
